India Abroad: Tina R. Goel Advocates for Broadened H-4 Work Authorization

In this editorial, “Thanks, with Criticism:  Why the Proposed Rule Change for H-4 Visa Holders is Not Enough, and What You Should Do About It,” published by the most widely circulated newspaper serving the Indian community in the United States, India Abroad, Tina R. Goel explains USCIS’s  proposed H-4 employment rules and analyzes the reasons that the rule falls short of significantly freeing H-4 spouses from idleness and dependency.

Comprehensive work authorization for H-4 spouses of H-1B employees would place the H-4 spouse where s/he will have the chance to enhance not only his/her own life, but also the overall economy of the US.  Finally, Tina urges her readers to amplify their voices for expanded work authorization by commenting on the proposed DHS rule.
